Dixon Jones case study

Requirements

  • installation of new system into new offices
  • retention of their old numbers
  • Increased resilience against faults

Dixon Jones are a leading firm of architects located in Central London and have been Pinnacle clients since 2000. Pinnacle installed their first Avaya Index system when they were just 15 people. They have since grown to 45 people and recently moved into new offices. Pinnacle continued their relationship by supplying an upgraded version of their Index (IP Office) for their new premises.

Pinnacle spent a lot of time in the planning stage to ensure that all requirements were met and when the installation began disruption was minimised for the client. This was important as Dixon Jones were working on a number of large projects, to tight deadlines, which could not be disrupted. Planning involved discussing client requirements, date capture of names, direct lines, out of hours requirements and call barring.

The main requirements specified by Dixon Jones were:

  • They wanted to keep their existing telephone numbers for the company and each individual direct line.
  • They wanted to improve their resilience to avoid disruption if their lines did go down.

Pinnacle installed the new IP Office IP500 which gave Dixon Jones the ability to keep their numbers, in spite of moving away from the local BT exchange. A second route, in and out of the building, was installed to give resilience so that, if the lines did go down, calls could be made over SIP.

Pinnacle managed the installation of the phone system, including the relationship with BT and the movement of equipment, to ensure that the phone system was ready in time for the arrival of staff on the new premises.

Training was offered on the new system to help staff adjust from the old system. The capability of the system to cope with up to 60 users means that Dixon Jones can continue to expand, without needing to upgrade. The availability of SIP means that they can reduce call costs while, simultaneously, gaining the peace of mind that, should their lines go down, they have a back up in place.
